Newpark Montessori School

Shepherd’s Bush

Our lovely nursery school premises is a sympathetically converted and restored church hall and has its own large garden. Our off-street vehicle access makes it simple to deliver and collect children by car; numerous buses pass us on Uxbridge Road and Shepherd’s Bush station is a short walk away. Although centrally located, we are hidden from the bustling Uxbridge Road behind St. Luke’s Church and enjoy seclusion and privacy surrounded by neighbouring gardens.

  • Newpark Montessori School & Nursery opened in 2006. The setting has four spacious and beautifully equipped classrooms; a dedicated Infant Community for our babies and toddlers across three rooms offering a range of learning experiences, and a large Montessori School for our pre-school children.

  • Children progress through a series of specially designed materials that help them advance academically in areas such as literacy and numeracy as well as helping them to develop their independence, concentration and social skills. We firmly believe the Montessori Method provides all the appropriate challenges children need to prepare them for primary school and later life.

  • Our Nursery group for children under three years old is based in bright and cheerful intercommunicating rooms at the rear of the building. The Woodland room is a tranquil space for quieter, more reflective activities, for play with beautiful wooden toys and heuristic resources, a large ramp and stair for whole body physical development, and for sleeping. The Creative room is where our painting, sand and water play, drawing, craft and other wonderfully messy activities take place. This area also doubles as our dining area. Our rear courtyard garden is accessed through doors from the rear of the building so that the children enjoy simultaneous indoor and outdoor play.

In the Montessori infant room, Montessori practical life, problem solving and construction activities for children to explore science and early numeracy, all promote independence, social skills and self confidence,

Language, reading, and singing are riven through the setting. Our philosophy encourages our educators to interact with babies and children at their level and to promote children’s independence, so all play, activities and eating take place at specially designed low tables and chairs, or on floor mats.

Children move on to the spacious Montessori school classroom at the front of the building when they are ready to work with more advanced Montessori materials. This wonderful open-plan learning space offers a rich, broad curriculum incorporating Practical Life, Sensorial, Maths, Language, Culture, Science, Geography, Botany and Art. Children enjoy direct free-flow access to our large garden throughout the day and all year round; the children also use this area to grow their own seeds and bulbs.

The children’s bathrooms are fitted with WCs and wash basins, all at low level for young children’s use. We also have nappy changing facilities. Children are encouraged to observe high standards of personal hygiene by washing their hands before and after meals, after using the toilet or potties and by cleaning their teeth during the day.

In the kitchen our chef prepares all the babies’ and children’s meals from scratch on-site every day.

  • Our large private garden provides a safe and beautiful environment for a variety of outdoor activities that enrich our children's learning and development. Our large handcrafted planters are teaming with flora and fauna and are tended by the children during their weekly gardening classes. At the rear of the building is secluded small garden perfect for our smallest babies.

A short walk away is Wormholt Park - a perfect outdoor location for escorted excursions.

We are proud to have be one of only 3 nurseries in Hammersmith & Fulham to have been awarded Silver level for this award.

Kind Words

“Children are extremely confident and very motivated to learn. Staff highly value each child as an individual. They interact with children in very respectful, warm and caring ways. Staff form strong and close bonds with children, who settle very well. Children gain exceptional independence skills.”

Ofsted Report, Newpark Montessori School & Nursery, 2020

“There are many opportunities for the children to develop their skills and independence at Newpark Montessori. Even the babies and toddlers are encouraged to manage their own meals and activities independently if they are able to. This is an outstanding feature of the setting..”

MEAB Report, Newpark Montessori School & Nursery, 2016

“It is hands down the best place I've ever come across for childcare and having moved out of London we miss it so much. Yes there is a long waiting list at times, but that speaks volumes about the unrivalled experience that kids have there. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend..”
